Your images are processed in this browser tab and never uploaded.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG files can be large, especially for photos.
JPG works everywhere: every phone, computer, website and app accepts it, and photos stay small enough to email.
What to expect
- JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white.
- JPG is lossy, so the file gets much smaller. At the default quality (90%) the difference is very hard to see; you can change it before converting.
Shrinking PNG photos and screenshots
PNG is perfect for screenshots and graphics, but a photo saved as PNG is often 3 to 6 MB. As a JPG at 90% quality the same photo is usually under 1 MB and looks the same, which is why upload forms and email attachments prefer JPG.
The one thing JPG can't keep is transparency: transparent areas become white. Logos and icons with a transparent background should stay PNG, or go to WebP, which keeps transparency and is still small.
Tips
- Screenshots full of text stay sharpest at 90% or higher. Drop to 75 to 80% only for photos.
- Need an exact file size such as under 100 KB? Use the Compress image to 100 KB tool after converting.
- Converting PNG to JPG and back to PNG won't restore the original: the JPG step is where detail is lost.

About the formats
PNG (Portable Network Graphics, 1996) is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly. It supports full transparency, which makes it the standard for logos, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges.
JPG (JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), 1992) is the most widely used photo format in the world. It uses lossy compression that throws away detail the eye barely notices, which keeps photos small. JPG and JPEG are the same format: the shorter extension comes from old Windows versions that only allowed three letters.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Drop your PNG files into the box above (or tap Select files), check the options, then press Convert. Each JPG downloads on its own, or you can download them all as one ZIP file.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your PNG files are never sent to a server, so they stay private, and it works even on a slow connection once the page has loaded.
Is there a limit on how many PNG files I can convert?
No. Convert as many as you like, for free, without signing up. Very large batches are processed one after another so your browser stays responsive.
What happens to the transparent background?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
Will I lose quality converting to JPG?
JPG uses lossy compression, but at the default 90% quality the difference is practically invisible. Move the Quality slider up for the highest fidelity or down for smaller files.
Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?
That happens with simple graphics: flat colours and few pixels compress extremely well as PNG. For logos, icons and diagrams, keep PNG.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing to install.
