About AVIF
AVIF (AV1 Image File Format, 2019) is the newest major image format, based on the AV1 video codec. It usually produces the smallest files of all, often half the size of JPG, with transparency and HDR support.
Best for: the fastest-loading website images. Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari show AVIF. Many desktop apps and older devices don't yet.

Will I lose quality converting to AVIF?
AVIF uses lossy compression, but at the default 90% quality the difference is practically invisible. Move the Quality slider up for the highest fidelity or down for smaller files.
