What is Form 4506-C?
Mortgage lenders and some other lenders ask for a 4506-C so they can verify your income through the IRS IVES programme. Your lender normally fills in their participant details; you complete your part and sign.
Filling it in: quick tips
- Lines 1–4: names, SSNs and addresses as shown on the return.
- Leave the IVES participant section to your lender unless they tell you otherwise.
- Sign and date within the period your lender asks for; the IRS rejects forms signed too long ago.
These tips are a quick guide, not tax advice. The form's own instructions on irs.gov are the final word. Form version: Rev. 10-2022, checked October 2026.
