Why convert SVG to JPG?

Many apps, social networks and documents only accept pixel images, not vectors.

JPG works everywhere: every phone, computer, website and app accepts it, and photos stay small enough to email.

What to expect

  • The vector is rendered to pixels at 1024px on the long side (or larger if the SVG is bigger), so the JPG stays sharp.
  • JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white.
  • JPG is lossy, so the file gets much smaller. At the default quality (90%) the difference is very hard to see; you can change it before converting.

SVG to JPG for places that need a photo format

Some forms, marketplaces and print services accept only JPG. Converting the SVG renders the vector to pixels and puts it on a white background, because JPG can't store transparency.

If the image will be placed on a coloured background later, PNG is usually the better choice, since it keeps the transparency.

Tips

  • Logos with thin lines look crispest at 90% quality or higher.
  • Check text in the result: SVGs that use web fonts can render with a fallback font.
  • Need it bigger? Scale the SVG up in your design app before converting; vectors lose nothing when enlarged.

About the formats

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics, 2001) is a vector format. Instead of pixels it describes shapes, so it stays perfectly sharp at any size. It's the standard for logos and icons on the web.

JPG (JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), 1992) is the most widely used photo format in the world. It uses lossy compression that throws away detail the eye barely notices, which keeps photos small. JPG and JPEG are the same format: the shorter extension comes from old Windows versions that only allowed three letters.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert SVG to JPG?

Drop your SVG files into the box above (or tap Select files), check the options, then press Convert. Each JPG downloads on its own, or you can download them all as one ZIP file.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your SVG files are never sent to a server, so they stay private, and it works even on a slow connection once the page has loaded.

Is there a limit on how many SVG files I can convert?

No. Convert as many as you like, for free, without signing up. Very large batches are processed one after another so your browser stays responsive.

What happens to the transparent background?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.

Will I lose quality converting to JPG?

JPG uses lossy compression, but at the default 90% quality the difference is practically invisible. Move the Quality slider up for the highest fidelity or down for smaller files.

Why is the background white?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Use SVG to PNG to keep the background transparent.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing to install.
