Why convert PSD to PNG?

Not everyone has Photoshop, and PSD files are too big to share.

PNG keeps every pixel and supports transparency, so nothing is lost and it is accepted by every app and website.

What to expect

  • Layers are flattened into one image, exactly as the document looks with its visible layers. The PSD needs to be saved with “Maximize compatibility” on (Photoshop's default).

PSD to PNG with transparency

PNG is the right export for design assets: logos, icons, web graphics and mock-ups. It's lossless and keeps transparent areas, so a logo designed on a transparent canvas stays transparent.

The result is the flattened document as Photoshop shows it with the current visible layers.

Tips

  • If the PNG comes out blank or white, re-save the PSD in Photoshop with “Maximize compatibility” switched on.
  • Very large PSDs (several hundred MB) can be slow on phones; use a computer for those.
  • For photos, PSD to JPG gives a much smaller file.

About the formats

PSD (Adobe Photoshop Document, 1990) is Photoshop's own working format. It keeps layers, masks and editing data, which makes files large and only readable in software that understands Photoshop documents.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics, 1996) is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly. It supports full transparency, which makes it the standard for logos, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PSD to PNG?

Drop your PSD files into the box above (or tap Select files), check the options, then press Convert. Each PNG downloads on its own, or you can download them all as one ZIP file.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your PSD files are never sent to a server, so they stay private, and it works even on a slow connection once the page has loaded.

Is there a limit on how many PSD files I can convert?

No. Convert as many as you like, for free, without signing up. Very large batches are processed one after another so your browser stays responsive.

Do I need Photoshop?

No. The PSD is read in your browser. You get the flattened image as it appears in Photoshop. Files saved without “Maximize compatibility” don't contain that image; re-save them with it on.

Will I lose quality converting to PNG?

No. PNG is lossless, so the converted image keeps every pixel of the original.

Does the PNG keep my layers?

No. PNG is a single flat image, so the visible layers are merged. Keep the PSD for further editing.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing to install.
