AVIF to PNG Converter
Turn AVIF files into PNG in seconds. Everything happens on your device: nothing is uploaded, and there's no limit.
Your images are processed in this browser tab and never uploaded.
Why convert AVIF to PNG?
AVIF is new, so many apps and older devices can't open it yet.
PNG keeps every pixel and supports transparency, so nothing is lost and it is accepted by every app and website.
What to expect
- Converting to PNG keeps every pixel of your AVIF, but it can't restore detail that AVIF compression already removed.
AVIF to PNG without losing transparency
PNG is the lossless way to open an AVIF in any editor or app. It keeps transparency, so cut-out product photos and stickers from websites stay transparent.
The PNG will be much larger than the AVIF, because PNG stores every pixel exactly.
Tips
- For sharing photos rather than editing them, AVIF to JPG gives a much smaller file.
- Keep the AVIF too if you want the smallest copy for a website.
- Animated AVIF converts to its first frame.

About the formats
AVIF (AV1 Image File Format, 2019) is the newest major image format, based on the AV1 video codec. It usually produces the smallest files of all, often half the size of JPG, with transparency and HDR support.
PNG (Portable Network Graphics, 1996) is a lossless format that keeps every pixel exactly. It supports full transparency, which makes it the standard for logos, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert AVIF to PNG?
Drop your AVIF files into the box above (or tap Select files), check the options, then press Convert. Each PNG downloads on its own, or you can download them all as one ZIP file.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your AVIF files are never sent to a server, so they stay private, and it works even on a slow connection once the page has loaded.
Is there a limit on how many AVIF files I can convert?
No. Convert as many as you like, for free, without signing up. Very large batches are processed one after another so your browser stays responsive.
Will I lose quality converting to PNG?
No. PNG is lossless, so the converted image keeps every pixel of the original.
Can Photoshop open AVIF?
Recent Photoshop versions can, older ones can't. Converting to PNG works in every version and every other editor.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing to install.
